Varberg, February 15, 2024 – The Vagabond Shoemakers Foundation announced today that it will launch a comprehensive initiative focused on sustainable development. This new project aims to support research and innovation efforts that concentrate on eco-friendly materials, circular economy, and reducing carbon emissions within footwear manufacturing and the fashion industry.
"We are facing significant climate challenges, and the fashion industry must take responsibility. Through this initiative, we aim to support research that can make a real difference," says Mats Nilsson, co-founder of the Vagabond Shoemakers Foundation.
The initiative is part of the foundation's broader commitment to supporting sustainable development and environmental efforts. In the coming years, collaborations are planned with researchers, innovators, and companies that have concrete solutions to these challenges. Grants and funding within the scope of this initiative will be awarded starting in 2025.
"It is important for us to both promote innovative solutions and create a more sustainable future for generations to come," says Marie Nilsson Peterzén, co-founder and board member of the foundation.
