History

Familjen Nilsson Peterzén’s Stiftelse – Vagabond Shoemakers Foundation was established on November 10, 2023, by Mats Nilsson and Marie Nilsson Peterzén.

On December 31, the founders and owners of Vagabond Shoemakers transferred their entire company, including trademark rights, to the foundation as a gift. This new ownership structure ensures that profits from Vagabond Shoemakers will be used to support research, education, and aid for those in need, in accordance with the foundation's statutes.

“We have always wanted to use our achievements to support projects that are needed in our time. A foundation provides an opportunity to give continuous support with impact” say Mats Nilsson and Marie Nilsson Peterzén.

Operations

The foundation is newly established and will begin distributing grants and subsidies in 2025. The interest in the foundation has been great, with many reaching out spontaneously to apply for support for various initiatives. We are deeply grateful for this response.

Initially, the board will collaborate with several organizations aligned with the foundation's mission. While the foundation will have limited capacity to receive and process information at the outset, we welcome you to share information about your organization in 2025. Please note, however, that the foundation will not accept applications from individuals, organizations, or other legal entities.

Applications from individuals and organizations not deemed to serve the public's best interests will not be considered. Consequently, grants will not be available for limited liability companies or similar entities.

This page will be updated continuously with the latest information.
